BJP's Strong Response to Rahul Gandhi's Allegations
New Delhi, August 5 - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused opposition leader Rahul Gandhi of sowing division and spreading false narratives to advance his political agenda by manipulating the youth. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra criticized Gandhi for promoting a 'bundle of lies' and urged young people not to be swayed by his rhetoric. He emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi stands with the youth, stating, 'You are ours, and we are all with you.'
This reaction follows Gandhi's recent remarks blaming Home Minister Amit Shah for the violence against young protesters. Gandhi claimed that Shah lacked the courage to address the incidents involving students in Parliament. His comments came after meeting with a group of students who protested last month, demanding the resignation of former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over a paper leak scandal and faced alleged police brutality during a march to Parliament on July 20.
In response, Patra asserted, 'I have previously stated with full responsibility that no shots were fired. Given the sensitivity of this matter, I want to reiterate that no shots were fired during the 'March to Parliament' on July 20.'
He further accused Gandhi of attempting to politicize the youth by putting a 'gun on their shoulders,' which he deemed inappropriate. Patra highlighted that the youth are the future of the nation and using them for political purposes is wrong. He recalled his own experiences participating in protests during his school and college days.
Patra encouraged the youth to be 'fearless' and not shy away from participating in movements when necessary. He expressed, 'To the children who were with Rahul Gandhi today, I want to say with affection—be fearless and do not be afraid. We are the largest party in the world, but you are our own.'
He accused Gandhi of creating a false narrative to fulfill his political agenda by exploiting the youth and sowing seeds of division. Patra claimed that Gandhi is trying to establish a political discourse using others' shoulders because he has failed to do so himself. During Gandhi's press conference, a woman alleged that police had assaulted her during a peaceful protest. She also clarified that she is not Muslim, contrary to online assumptions, which led to her being targeted further.
In response, Patra stated, 'Whether you are Sharma or Khan, you are a daughter of India. The country progresses with 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas.'
Patra condemned Gandhi's divisive agenda as 'extremely wrong.' Addressing Gandhi's claims about Shah's absence in Parliament, Patra countered that it is the Congress leaders who prevent the house from functioning.
He remarked, 'The Home Minister arrives before us in Parliament and leaves after we do, often staying until midnight. You are not allowing the house to function and then claiming the Home Minister does not attend. He will certainly be present when discussions on home ministry-related topics occur.'
Patra emphasized that the Home Minister is present in Parliament, but the opposition does not allow discussions on any topic, and the nation is watching all of this unfold.
He also accused Gandhi of taking a selective stance on student issues, questioning why he has not yet visited Jharkhand to meet with students and job aspirants protesting against alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Staff Selection Commission (SSC) exams since July 25 in Ranchi. He stated, 'They are also youth; they are also protesting. Rahul Gandhi should meet them and understand their pain and suffering.'
Patra concluded that Gandhi is deliberately ignoring these issues, stating that he is not visiting Jharkhand because his party is in power there.
