BJP's Allegations Against Congress Leadership
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a strong attack on the Congress leadership on Tuesday, alleging that members of the Gandhi-Vadra family attempted to extort ₹7 crore from a party worker during the Haryana Assembly elections. The party claims that preliminary evidence of corruption has emerged from alleged WhatsApp chats. Addressing a press conference in Delhi, BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari stated that the entire nation has been discussing a single issue lately: the complete exposure of the Congress party as corrupt and colluding, with the Gandhi-Vadra family at the helm of this corruption.
Evidence of Corruption in Haryana
Bhandari further alleged that evidence has surfaced regarding Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Rahul Gandhi, and Sonia Gandhi in connection with the Bawal Assembly seat in Haryana. According to the BJP leader, Gaurav Kumar, husband of the Haryana Women’s Congress General Secretary, has made some WhatsApp chats and conversations public, which reportedly involve senior Congress officials. Bhandari claimed that these chats indicate that senior leaders demanded ₹7 crore in exchange for a ticket to the Bawal Assembly.
Involvement of Key Congress Figures
He named KC Venugopal, described as a close associate of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Additionally, he mentioned Kodikunnil Suresh and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's personal assistant, Sadaf Khan, as part of the alleged conversations. Bhandari stated that one of the Haryana Congress leaders has revealed facts that show through WhatsApp chats that Priyanka Vadra, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi used KC Venugopal as a pawn—someone considered very close to the Gandhi family. He claimed that by using Venugopal as a pawn, they attempted to extort ₹7 crore from a Congress worker, who was not just any worker but the General Secretary of the Haryana Women’s Congress, in exchange for a promise of the Bawal seat.
Public Evidence Presented
He continued by stating that WhatsApp chats involving Vadra's PA Sadaf Khan, Venugopal's PA Anas, and Kodikunnil Suresh were presented as evidence. He emphasized that this means there is now proof before everyone that Priyanka Vadra, KC Venugopal, and Rahul Gandhi attempted to extort ₹7 crore from their own Congress workers in Haryana. These are not trivial allegations; the WhatsApp chats involving Priyanka Vadra's PA, Sadaf Khan, Venugopal's PA Anas, and Kodikunnil Suresh were showcased during the press conference. All these are public, written WhatsApp conversations.
