BJD Demands Justice for Pregnant Tribal Minor in Odisha Amid Allegations of Political Influence
Call for Justice in Koraput District
Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has raised its voice for justice concerning a minor tribal girl from Koraput district in Odisha, who has reportedly been raped and is now pregnant, allegedly by an individual connected to the ruling party.
Former minister Snehangini Chhuria spearheaded a BJD team that visited the victim's village. They also presented a memorandum to the Superintendent of Police in Koraput, urging for the swift arrest of the suspect and a thorough investigation into the case of the minor's assault.
Chhuria emphasized that the BJD will support the victim until justice is achieved.
The party leaders claimed that the accused is the son of a local MLA's aide, which they believe has led to inaction from law enforcement. According to their memorandum, the girl is currently five months pregnant.
"This is a grave situation involving a tribal minor, and the claims of political interference in this case are extremely concerning," Chhuria stated to the media.
