Bizarre Robbery Gang Uncovered in Bareilly
Unique Robbery Tactics Revealed
The Bareilly police have exposed an unusual gang of robbers who cleverly utilized their wives in their criminal activities. Targeting unsuspecting pensioners and government employees exiting banks, the gang employed a unique strategy. They would wait outside banks in separate auto-rickshaws, with their wives dressed attractively to lure potential victims. These unsuspecting individuals, waiting for rides, would fall prey to the gang's deceptive tactics. Once they were taken away from the bank, the robbers would steal their cash. Currently, police, with the assistance of the Special Operations Group (SOG), have arrested five individuals, including two couples, and recovered approximately one lakh rupees in stolen cash. The gang has admitted to eight robbery incidents so far, and further investigations are underway.
Adil and Shaba are one couple involved, while Asgar and Noori make up another. The fifth member, Usman Ali, acts as the mastermind behind the gang, orchestrating their operations. Noori, along with her friend Shaba, leads the gang's activities.
In the past year, there has been a notable increase in bank robberies in Bareilly district. To address this, police officials deployed both regular officers and SOG teams. Usman Ali would scout banks during the first two weeks of each month, targeting individuals withdrawing pensions and salaries. Adil and Asgar would arrive in separate autos with their wives, who were dressed up to appear as passengers.
When a victim exited the bank after withdrawing cash, they would be lured into the autos by Usman Ali's signal. The wives, already seated in the autos, would assist in enticing the victims to join them. The unsuspecting individuals, mistaking the women for regular passengers, would easily get into the autos. After driving a distance, the gang would fabricate a story about a vehicle breakdown and rob the victims. According to police, the gang has confessed to eight such robbery incidents.
The Kotwali police have made a significant breakthrough by apprehending this five-member gang, which has been responsible for multiple robberies over the past year. The gang would observe individuals withdrawing cash from banks, and as soon as someone exited with cash, other members would be waiting outside in autos to take them away and rob them en route. The women in the gang played a crucial role in distracting the victims while using code words to communicate. Over 93,000 rupees have been recovered from the gang, and they have admitted to eight robbery incidents. Interrogations are ongoing.
