Bihar's Commitment to Fuel Conservation

On Saturday, senior officials in Vaishali district, Bihar, refrained from using government vehicles in support of the state's 'No Vehicle Day' initiative. This program was launched following Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary's appeal to reduce fuel consumption amid concerns over global energy supply disruptions. District Magistrate Varsha Singh, along with several administrative officials, traveled to the collectorate on foot, by bicycle, or using e-rickshaws, resulting in a notably empty parking area that is usually crowded.

While addressing reporters in Hajipur, Singh encouraged the residents of Vaishali to adopt fuel-free travel by walking, cycling, or utilizing public transport and e-rickshaws at least one day a week. She emphasized that the state government's message aims to promote fuel conservation and reduce reliance on petrol and diesel.

Participation from Senior Officials

The District Magistrate took an e-rickshaw from her official residence to Trimurti Chowk and then proceeded to her office via Gandhi Chowk. Other senior officials, including Additional District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar, Deputy Development Commissioner Kundan Kumar, and SDO Ram Babu Baitha, also participated in this initiative. This effort comes in light of rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which have raised concerns about potential disruptions in the global supply of petroleum products and natural gas.

In response, the Bihar government has urged citizens and government employees to minimize the use of private vehicles and observe a 'Vehicle Prohibition Day' each week. Singh stated that all district officials and employees in Vaishali will continue this practice every Saturday and will also promote carpooling and the use of public transport.

Encouraging Clean Energy Adoption

Additionally, she urged residents to embrace clean energy sources, such as rooftop solar systems and PNG gas connections, as part of broader efforts to reduce dependence on traditional fuels under the PM Surya scheme.
