Nishant Kumar's Political Future

On Tuesday, Neeraj Kumar, a leader from the Janata Dal (United), expressed that Nishant Kumar, the son of Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, should definitely consider a career in politics. This statement came after Bihar Minister Shrawan Kumar confirmed that Nishant would join the party during Holi and would be entrusted with significant responsibilities. Neeraj Kumar also mentioned that Nishant is qualified to be a member of the Rajya Sabha. Speaking to the media, he emphasized that party workers expect such individuals to enter politics, stating, 'People like him should certainly engage in public life.' The party's top leadership will decide who will go to the Rajya Sabha, but can anyone question his qualifications? Is there any corruption allegation against him? If not, such individuals should definitely participate in public affairs.

Neeraj Kumar further compared Nishant Kumar with Tejashwi Yadav, noting that Tejashwi faces legal issues in four states, while Nishant is far ahead in the education sector. Therefore, he believes there is no basis for comparison between the two. The youth of Bihar are eagerly awaiting Nishant's entry into active politics. Earlier, Shrawan Kumar had stated in a phone conversation that this move was in response to the demands of party workers and the people of Bihar.

Shrawan Kumar mentioned that during Holi, in accordance with the requests of Bihar's youth and JD(U) workers, Nishant Kumar is fully joining the party. The party will determine the responsibilities assigned to him, but he assured that significant duties would be given. Expressing happiness over the speculation surrounding Nishant Kumar's entry into JD(U), Bihar Minister Ashok Chaudhary remarked that Nishant should step into active politics. He described him as an educated engineer who embodies Nitish Kumar's style, grace, and simplicity.

Speculation about Nishant Kumar's political entry has been ongoing since the National Democratic Alliance's significant victory in the Bihar assembly elections in 2025. In December 2025, JD(U) executive president Sanjay Jha stated in Nishant's presence that party members and supporters want him to contribute to the party's efforts. He added that the timing of his entry is up to Nishant himself.
