Bihar's Electoral Roll Update: 98% of Voters Accounted in Special Revision
Significant Progress in Bihar's Voter Registration
New Delhi: The Election Commission announced on Wednesday that an impressive 98.01% of voters in Bihar have been included in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
Currently, there are reports of 2 million deceased voters, while 2.8 million have permanently relocated. Additionally, 700,000 voters were found to be registered in multiple locations, and 100,000 were deemed untraceable, according to the ECI.
The Commission has successfully digitized 71.7 million Enumeration Forms, representing 90.89% of the state's electorate. However, 1.5 million forms remain unreturned.
On July 20, the lists of voters incorrectly included and those who did not submit their Enumeration Forms were distributed to 150,000 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) appointed by district heads of the 12 major political parties in Bihar.
Voters temporarily residing outside Bihar and not registered elsewhere can submit their forms online at https://electors.eci.gov.in, via the ECINet mobile app, or by completing a printed form. This signed form can be sent to the respective Booth Level Officer (BLO) through a family member or via WhatsApp.
Those who have submitted their Enumeration Forms will have their names included in the Draft Electoral Roll, which is set to be published on August 1, marking the conclusion of the first phase of SIR. Voters can check the status of their forms at: https://electors.eci.gov.in/home/enumFormTrack.
SMS notifications have been dispatched to voters whose mobile numbers were provided in their forms.
If there are any discrepancies in the Draft Roll, voters or political parties can raise objections with the relevant Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) by September 1. Likewise, eligible individuals whose names are absent can also submit claims until that date.
The Election Commission encourages citizens to actively engage in the electoral roll verification process, as the final roll will significantly influence Bihar's democratic framework.
