Trust Vote Passed in Bihar Assembly

Patna: On Friday, Bihar's Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary successfully passed a vote of confidence in the state Legislative Assembly, confirming the government's majority through a voice vote.

The Opposition, led by Tejashwi Yadav, opted not to call for a division of votes, leading Speaker Prem Kumar to announce the motion's approval and congratulate the newly established government.

The ruling coalition received support from its NDA partners, including Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha, highlighting their collective strength in the Assembly.

During his address, Chief Minister Choudhary launched a strong critique against Tejashwi Yadav, asserting that leadership in a democracy should not stem from family ties or specific political ideologies. He emphasized that true political authority arises from the people's will and persistent effort, rather than from inheritance or privilege.

Reflecting on his own political ascent, Choudhary noted that he achieved his current position through public backing and determination.

In a direct reference to former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad, he acknowledged that the challenges and perceived injustices of that era significantly influenced his political journey.

Choudhary dismissed what he referred to as the 'Lalu school of politics' while recognizing the invaluable support from senior leaders and coalition partners. He expressed gratitude towards former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Food Processing Industries Minister Chirag Paswan, Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha, and Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi for their assistance.

He stressed that his rise to the Chief Minister position is a testament to collective political agreement and party solidarity, particularly noting the BJP's role in providing him with opportunities as state president, Deputy CM, and now Chief Minister.

The special one-day session was marked by intense exchanges between the ruling coalition and the Opposition. However, the lack of a call for a vote count suggested that the Opposition did not contest the government's numerical advantage in the Assembly.
