Today, Bihar is poised to reveal the name of its next Chief Minister, with attention focused on BJP's Samrat Chaudhary and JDU's Nishant Kumar. This decision is expected to be made during the NDA meeting scheduled for 4 PM in the Central Hall of the Bihar Assembly in Patna. The swearing-in ceremony is likely to take place on April 15. Current Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will resign after presiding over his final cabinet meeting around 3 PM today, marking the end of nearly two decades in office.
Prior to the NDA meeting, the BJP legislative party will convene at 3 PM at the party office to elect its leader. Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, appointed as the central observer, will also be present at this meeting.
Pathway to New Chief Minister's Appointment
Following the BJP legislative party's meeting, the NDA will formally elect the leader of the legislative party, paving the way for the appointment of the new Chief Minister. The resignation of Nitish Kumar is anticipated after his cabinet meeting, which could facilitate the selection of a new Chief Minister by April 15. Kumar is set to travel to Delhi after taking the oath as a Rajya Sabha MP on April 11, having previously resigned from his position as a member of the Bihar Legislative Council on March 30.

On Tuesday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar paid tribute to B.R. Ambedkar on his birth anniversary. In his post, he expressed, 'On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, a great social reformer, thinker, and pioneer of social justice, I humbly pay my respects.'
BJP National General Secretary Arrives in Patna
BJP's National General Secretary (Organization) B.L. Santosh has arrived in Patna ahead of crucial meetings for selecting the new Chief Minister. Bihar BJP President Sanjay Sarawagi confirmed that the BJP legislative party will meet at 3 PM at the party office to elect its leader. Central Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will be present as the central observer. Following this, the NDA meeting will take place at 4 PM in the Central Hall of the Bihar Assembly, where the final decision regarding the legislative party leader will be made.
