Pappu Yadav's Strong Critique of Election Commission
On Thursday, Pappu Yadav, a Member of Parliament from Purnia, expressed his discontent regarding the Special Intensive Review (SIR) process in Bihar, accusing the Election Commission of bias and favoring the BJP. Speaking to a news outlet, Yadav emphasized that if no action is taken regarding this process in Bihar, all members should resign from the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha, allowing the government to operate as it wishes.

He stated that when actions deviate from the Constitution, Parliament has the authority to amend, discuss, and intervene. If the Election Commission becomes unrestrained, the Supreme Court will also step in. Yadav claimed that the Commission is using the SIR as an excuse after realizing they might not win the elections. He accused the Election Commission of speaking the BJP's language and reiterated that if no measures are taken, resignations from both houses should occur, allowing the government to manage the assembly as it sees fit.
Earlier today, Santosh Kumar, a member of the Communist Party of India (CPI), remarked that this process is a deliberate attempt to exclude Dalits, Adivasis, and minorities from the voter list. In a conversation with a news outlet, Kumar asserted that the actions taken in the name of the Election Commission seem to favor the BJP. He questioned how such a significant amendment could occur in such a short time, noting that the Bihar elections were not sudden. He asked why the Election Commission is preparing so late and if all individuals have been on the terrorist list for the past 20 years. Did Nitish Kumar form the government by securing their votes, and did the BJP receive more votes?

Kumar reiterated that the SIR is intentionally aimed at excluding Dalits, Adivasis, and minorities, which is evident from its very name. This issue is not just about exclusion but also about facilitating inclusion. Meanwhile, amidst the uproar from the opposition, the proceedings of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned for the day. Both houses are set to reconvene at 11 AM on Friday.
