Strict Measures Against Obscene Music in Bihar

The Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister of Bihar, Samrat Chaudhary, has issued a directive for police to take stringent action against the playing of obscene and objectionable songs in public areas across the state. According to the directive, individuals playing such songs in buses, trucks, auto-rickshaws, or any public venue will face FIRs, regardless of whether the songs are in Bhojpuri, Magahi, Maithili, or any other language.

Chaudhary has called for a special campaign in all districts to halt the broadcasting of vulgar and suggestive songs, emphasizing the need for strict legal action in such cases. He made it clear that the airing of these songs in public spaces, events, and vehicles will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

The Deputy Chief Minister expressed concern that cheap, suggestive, and obscene songs have become a serious issue for society. He noted that the broadcasting of such music in public places and vehicles affects the dignity and safety of women, making them feel uncomfortable.

Chaudhary also pointed out that these songs negatively influence children's thinking. He stressed that this is a significant social problem that cannot be overlooked. The government is fully committed to ensuring the safety of women and children, and police have been instructed to take strict action against obscene and suggestive songs. Special campaigns will also be conducted in all districts during the Holi festival.

During the campaign, songs played in public spaces, vehicles, and events will be identified. Those violating the rules will face FIRs under Sections 296, 79 of the Indian Penal Code 2023, along with other relevant sections. If necessary, sound systems will be confiscated, and action will be taken against organizers and vehicle drivers. The Deputy Chief Minister reiterated that maintaining a healthy and safe environment in society is the government's responsibility, and there will be no compromise on the dignity of women and the future of children.
