Bihar Government Approves Major Employment Initiatives Ahead of Elections

Bihar's Strategic Employment Plan
Ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, the government led by Nitish Kumar has approved 30 significant proposals, including a plan to provide jobs for one crore youths over the next five years. This decision, announced before the state elections scheduled for later this year, is perceived as a strategic response by the ruling NDA government to opposition criticism regarding rising unemployment and alleged inaction on job creation in Bihar.
Previous Announcements and Future Goals
Earlier on Sunday, the Chief Minister made a similar announcement on social media, claiming that more than eight lakh youths were given government jobs between 2005 and 2020. In his post, Kumar stated, "Our aim is to double this target by providing one crore government jobs and employment opportunities in the next five years (2025 to 2030). To achieve this, new jobs and opportunities will also be created in the private sector, particularly in industrial areas."
Formation of a High-Level Committee
He further mentioned that a high-level committee will be established for this purpose. Currently, under the 'Saat Nischay' program, skill development training is being provided to connect the youth of the state with self-employment opportunities. Over the next five years, the ongoing youth skill development programs under 'Saat Nischay' will be expanded. Kumar also announced the establishment of a new university dedicated to skill development in Bihar, named after the state's esteemed leader, Jananayak Karpoori Thakur. This initiative aims to equip youths with skills that will open new employment opportunities.
