Bihar Cabinet Approves Major Infrastructure Projects and Employment Initiatives
Approval for Lead Acid Battery Factory
On Tuesday, the Bihar cabinet sanctioned the establishment of a factory in Purnea dedicated to the production of lead acid batteries and plates, with an investment of ₹36.01 crore. This initiative, led by M/s Mizuki Power Products Pvt Ltd, is expected to create job opportunities for 200 individuals, both skilled and unskilled. The facility aims to manufacture 8.4 lakh battery plates and 6 lakh batteries annually.
Funding for International Cricket Stadium
The cabinet also allocated ₹1121.41 crore for the civil and electrical work required for the State Sports Academy and International Cricket Stadium located in Rajgir, Nalanda.
Water Supply Initiatives for Supaul and Kaimur
Two proposals from the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) were approved for water supply schemes in Supaul and Kaimur districts. A multi-village water supply project with a capacity of 27 MLD and 4 MLD, costing ₹320.01 crore, will provide water to 318 wards across 63 villages in Chhatapur block of Supaul. This initiative aims to address the declining groundwater levels and iron contamination affecting these areas.
Land Transfer for Kendriya Vidyalaya Construction
The cabinet approved the transfer of 4.63 acres in Domahata, Gopalganj, and 5 acres in Godhaila, Darbhanga, to the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan for the establishment of a Kendriya Vidyalaya and staff quarters, with a nominal lease fee of ₹1 for a period of 30 years.
Additional Key Decisions
An administrative approval of ₹675.50 crore was granted for the construction of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Path Chakra on Nehru Path in Patna, aimed at enhancing travel safety. Furthermore, a revised estimate of ₹696.26 crore was approved for a flyover project in Chhapra, and ₹1368.46 crore for a two-lane road leading to the Digha rail-cum-road bridge, improving connectivity to AIIMS, Patna. Additionally, seven medical officers were dismissed for unauthorized absence from duty, as part of the cabinet's 41 decisions led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
