Bihar Bride's Shocking Escape in Jodhpur: A Tale of Deception
The Incident in Jodhpur
In a bizarre incident in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, a bride from Bihar orchestrated a shocking escape after marrying a local man. The bride, who had initially accepted money for the marriage, revealed her true intentions just two days after the wedding night. When the groom discovered her secret, she locked him in a room and attempted to flee. Using a saree to create a makeshift rope, she jumped from the balcony but suffered severe injuries, breaking both legs in the process. This led to her arrest by the police.
The case was reported in the Banad police station area, where the groom, Bharat, filed a complaint against the 23-year-old bride, Suman, and five accomplices for fraud.
Bharat explained that he had been struggling to find a bride when a family acquaintance, Nandkishore Soni, assured him of a good match. On June 27, he was introduced to Suman, a 23-year-old from Bihar, through two associates, Sandeep Sharma and Ravi, who brought along two women. After deciding on Suman, Bharat was told that the marriage would cost three lakh rupees due to associated expenses.
The Costly Marriage Deal
Bharat recounted that they paid 1.7 lakh rupees in cash and transferred another 1.3 lakh online. The marriage was conducted at an Arya Samaj temple, but just two days later, Bharat learned that Suman was not who she claimed to be. During a heated argument, Suman locked him in a room. As she attempted to escape using the saree, she fell and broke her legs. Sandeep and Ravi, who were waiting outside, fled the scene when Bharat raised an alarm, prompting his family to capture Suman.
Unraveling the Deception
Suman was admitted to the hospital in critical condition, but her cunning did not diminish. While hospitalized, she repeatedly changed her father's name, raising suspicions. Investigations revealed that she was already married at the time of her wedding to Bharat. The documents she provided during the marriage ceremony falsely stated that she was single, leading to the exposure of her fraudulent activities. Suman Pandey is reported to be from Aurangabad, Bihar, while Sandeep Sharma hails from Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh. Ravi and Ruby Devi are from Dalmia Nagar, Rohtas, Bihar, and Nandkishore Soni and Jitendra Soni are residents of Jodhpur. Authorities are currently searching for the remaining suspects.
