Bihar Assembly Elections: NDA Seat Distribution Discussions Heat Up

Political Dynamics in Bihar Ahead of Assembly Elections

This year, Bihar is gearing up for its assembly elections, with political parties actively strategizing their alliances. The primary contest appears to be between the NDA and the Grand Alliance. Within the NDA, discussions regarding seat allocation have intensified. Reports suggest that, similar to the Lok Sabha elections, the assembly elections will also see a division of seats among the parties involved. In the previous elections, the BJP contested 17 seats, JD(U) 12, LJP 5, while HAM and the Rashtriya Lok Morcha each fielded candidates in one seat.

Potential Seat Allocation for the Upcoming Elections

For the upcoming assembly elections, JD(U) is projected to receive around 102 or 103 out of the total 243 seats. The BJP is expected to secure between 101 and 102 seats. Additionally, approximately 40 seats will be allocated to the Lok Janshakti Party, Hindustani Awam Morcha, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha. It is anticipated that Chirag Paswan's party could receive between 25 to 28 seats, while Jitan Ram Manjhi may get 6 to 7 seats, and Upendra Kushwaha could contest for 4 to 5 seats. Sources indicate that Nitish Kumar will continue to be the face of the NDA in Bihar, with JD(U) playing a dominant role.

Tejashwi Yadav's Call for Special Assembly Session

In a related development, Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has written to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, urging him to convene a special session of the state assembly. The purpose of this session would be to introduce new legislation aimed at increasing reservation for marginalized communities to '85 percent'. Tejashwi, who previously served as the Deputy Chief Minister, accused the Nitish government of deliberately delaying action on this important issue. During his tenure, the reservation for weaker sections was raised to 75 percent.
