Successful Rescue Operations in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In a commendable effort, the police successfully located an 11-year-old girl who had gone missing after a dispute with her mother. The search operation lasted for 30 hours in Bhubaneswar.

A complaint was lodged at the Mancheswar police station on June 1, reporting that the girl had disappeared around 9 am following an argument.

Recognizing the sensitivity of the situation, the police prioritized the case and acted swiftly, according to Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner S Dev Datta Singh.

"We established several teams to tackle the investigation. By employing manual searches, leveraging our intelligence network, analyzing digital evidence, and utilizing CCTV footage, we managed to find the girl within 30 hours," Singh informed reporters.

The girl was found near the Mancheswar railway station on June 2, 2025, around 3 pm and was safely returned to her family, Singh confirmed.

It seems her departure was triggered by a minor disagreement with her mother, the police officer noted.

In a related case, authorities also reunited a missing 10-year-old boy with his family.

On June 2, around 2 pm, police received a report about a boy begging for food near a sweet stall on Puri Canal Road in the Hansapal area, Singh stated.

Upon receiving the alert, a police team quickly responded, rescued the boy, and took him to the Pahal police station.

The child was unable to provide accurate information about his home address.

After conducting inquiries in various nearby slums, it was determined that he had gone missing from Patharbandha Basti, a slum area under the Saheed Nagar police jurisdiction, earlier that morning.

Eventually, the boy was safely returned to his family, as confirmed by the police commissioner.

The Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate of Police plans to honor the officers involved in the successful rescues of both minors.
