Beyond Reach Premier League: Empowering Rural Cricket Talent in India
Introduction to BRPL
The newly established Beyond Reach Premier League (BRPL) aims to address a significant gap in Indian cricket by providing structured opportunities and recognition for players hailing from small towns and rural areas. The league is founded on the principle that talent deserves to be nurtured and showcased, irrespective of one's background.
Vision of BRPL
"BRPL is crafted to offer young athletes from rural India what they often miss out on—structured opportunities and recognition," stated Sushil Sharma, Co-Founder and CEO of BRPL. "We are developing an environment where talent is evaluated based on performance rather than background or location. Through organized tournaments, professional management, digital visibility, and competitive exposure, BRPL provides these players with a genuine platform to display their abilities," he elaborated.
Inspiration Behind BRPL
The founders' inspiration stems from their childhood experiences playing tennis-ball cricket in small local grounds. "As a child, I played cricket with a tennis ball in narrow streets, just like many kids in India. I had the passion, belief, and desire to prove myself. Every match felt significant, and every run was a step toward something greater," shared Sushil Sharma.
However, a crucial gap remained. "What was missing was a proper platform. There was no structured opportunity to showcase talent, no visibility, and no clear path forward. Over time, I understood that talent alone isn't sufficient. Dreams require direction, skills need exposure, and passion demands opportunity," he added.
This realization transformed into a commitment. "When I couldn't find that platform for myself, I vowed to create one. BRPL emerged from that promise. It is my way of ensuring that the dreams that went unfulfilled in my childhood do not remain so for the next generation," stated Mr. Sushil Sharma.
Beyond Cricket
The primary mission of BRPL is to provide structured opportunities for players from small towns and rural regions, which are often abundant in raw talent but lack exposure. However, BRPL's impact goes beyond just performance metrics. "It fosters confidence, instills discipline, and promotes teamwork. It helps young players develop their identity and self-belief," remarked the founder.
Professionalizing Grassroots Cricket
BRPL also embodies a broader belief in the untapped potential of tennis-ball cricket, which has been celebrated at the grassroots level but seldom viewed through a professional lens. "Indeed, tennis cricket enjoys immense grassroots popularity across India. The passion and participation are there; what it requires is structure and vision," he affirmed.
League Mission and Participation
BRPL is committed to nurturing cricket talent through top-notch training, competitive leagues, and professional coaching, aiming to elevate the sport and empower the next generation of champions.
The league is open to aspiring and semi-professional cricketers aged between 18 and 40, inviting participants from all 28 states and 8 Union Territories across India.
