Bengaluru's Safety Under Scrutiny: Home Minister Addresses Recent Molestation Incident
Bengaluru's Ongoing Safety Challenges
Bengaluru: Karnataka's Home Minister G Parameshwara acknowledged that while Bengaluru is generally peaceful, incidents such as the recent molestation of a woman do occur. He emphasized the importance of police presence in maintaining order within the city.
Following the reported molestation incident, Parameshwara noted that such events tend to attract significant public concern.
He mentioned that he provides daily guidance to Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda to enhance patrolling and monitoring efforts.
This statement came in response to an incident where a woman was assaulted in a secluded area of Suddaguntepalya.
Parameshwara stated, "Our police force works tirelessly, regardless of weather conditions, which contributes to the overall peace in Bengaluru. However, incidents like this can happen in a large city like ours."
He reiterated the need for vigilance, instructing the police commissioner to ensure that the beat system is effectively implemented and that monitoring is intensified.
"I emphasize that patrolling must be conducted in a disciplined and efficient manner across all neighborhoods. We act in accordance with the law, and I have directed the police commissioner to prioritize this," he added.
According to police reports, two women were walking in Bharathi Layout during the early hours of April 3 when a man approached them, forcefully pushing one against a wall and molesting her before fleeing the scene.
Authorities have filed a case and launched an investigation into the matter.
