Bengaluru Woman Falls Victim to Disturbing Nude Video Call Scam

A shocking incident has emerged from Bengaluru, where a woman faced a distressing situation after accepting a follow request from an unknown individual on social media. Let's delve into the details of this alarming case.

Bengaluru: Are you active on social media? Do you often accept follow requests from strangers without a second thought? If so, you might want to reconsider your approach. A 34-year-old woman named Meghna (name changed) from Bengaluru experienced a terrifying ordeal after accepting a request from an unknown person, prompting her to think twice before doing so again.

Meghna, who serves as the president of a women's organization dedicated to welfare and justice, received a friend request on Facebook around 11:45 PM from a profile named 'Lovely Archana.' The profile picture featured a photo of a colleague from Chitradurga district, leading Meghna to believe it was a friend's account, which prompted her to accept the request.

The Disturbing Video Call

Shortly after accepting the request, Meghna received a video call from the same account. Upon answering, she was horrified to find a naked man deliberately exposing himself on the screen. Shocked, Meghna quickly ended the call and handed her phone to her husband. However, the man continued to call repeatedly and sent obscene images via Facebook. When Meghna's husband attempted to confront him through a video call, the man remained silent and deleted the images he had sent.

Taking Action Against the Perpetrator

After blocking the account on Facebook, the man changed his profile picture to one of Meghna and began contacting her through WhatsApp using the number 9003490931. On July 9, he resumed calling and messaging her. Ultimately, Meghna gathered the courage to file a complaint with the police. Authorities have registered a case under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and are currently working to identify and locate the individual responsible.
