Bengaluru Woman Falls Victim to Disturbing Nude Video Call Scam
Shocking Incident in Bengaluru
A woman from Bengaluru recently experienced a troubling incident after accepting a follow request from an unknown individual on social media. This alarming event serves as a cautionary tale for those who might be tempted to connect with strangers online.
Bengaluru: Are you active on social media? Do you often accept follow requests from unfamiliar accounts? If so, you might want to reconsider your approach. Meghna, a 34-year-old woman from Bengaluru, found herself in a distressing situation after accepting a request from a profile she believed belonged to a friend. This incident has made her rethink the safety of accepting such requests.
Living in the Dasarahalli area, Meghna is the president of a women's organization dedicated to welfare and justice. Around 11:45 PM, she received a friend request from a profile named 'Lovely Archana,' which featured a photo of a colleague from Chitradurga. Mistakenly thinking it was her friend's account, she accepted the request.
Unwanted Video Call
Shortly after accepting the request, Meghna received a video call from the same account. To her shock, the caller was a naked man who deliberately exposed himself on screen. Terrified, Meghna quickly ended the call and handed her phone to her husband. However, the man continued to call repeatedly and sent obscene images via Facebook. When her husband attempted to confront him through a video call, the man remained silent and deleted the images he had sent.
Filing a Police Complaint
After blocking the account on Facebook, Meghna discovered that the man had changed his profile picture to one of her and began contacting her via WhatsApp from the number 9003490931. On July 9, he resumed calling and messaging her. Eventually, Meghna gathered the courage to report the incident to the police. Authorities have registered a case under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and are currently working to identify and locate the perpetrator.
