Bengaluru Residents Stunned by Discovery of Human Remains in Apartment Complex

Shocking Discovery in Bengaluru

Residents of Bengaluru are reeling after the unsettling discovery of several human skulls and bones at a residential apartment complex. The skeletal remains, which include suspected skull fragments, were uncovered during the cleaning of a sewage pit at the MN Credence Flora complex located in Southeast Bengaluru.

Timeline of the Discovery

The remains were found on June 16 by contract workers who were clearing a percolation pit near the parking area. They promptly informed the head of the Residents' Welfare Association (RWA), who then alerted the police. The authorities have yet to determine whether the remains belong to humans or animals. An officer from the Begur police station confirmed that the bones have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis, with results anticipated within a week.

Local Theories and Concerns

Some residents speculate that the land where the apartment complex stands may have previously served as a burial ground, which could explain the presence of the remains. This theory, voiced by several long-term residents, adds an eerie layer to the situation. A senior police officer acknowledged the locals' concerns but stressed that no conclusions will be drawn until the forensic report is available.

The clean-up was initiated by civic authorities following multiple notices to the RWA. Reports indicate that the stormwater management system at the complex, which accommodates around 45 flats and has been occupied for a decade, was malfunctioning. Although there are 16 percolation pits on the property, the human remains were found in just one. This alarming incident has raised significant alarm among residents, prompting the Begur Police to initiate an investigation under Section 194(3)(iv) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.
