Bengaluru MP Advocates for Solutions Amid NEET-UG Paper Leak Controversy

Focus on Solutions, Not Politics

Tejasvi Surya, the Member of Parliament from Bengaluru South representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), emphasized the need for solutions rather than political disputes during the discussion on the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha on July 28. Speaking during the monsoon session of Parliament, Surya highlighted the significance of a fair examination system for millions of students and their families who rely on competitive exams for opportunities. He stated that students do not want politics surrounding the paper leak; they seek a system that safeguards their future. For countless ordinary families, a fair examination often serves as the only pathway to opportunity.

Government's Commitment to Reform

Surya reiterated that students are looking for solutions, not political maneuvering. He also mentioned that the government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, is dedicated to strengthening the examination system through structural reforms aimed at preventing future paper leaks. He described the government's comprehensive approach as a transformative effort centered around three priorities: "justice, security, and reform." Under justice, he referred to the CBI investigation, the filing of FIRs, and immediate arrests related to paper leak cases. Regarding security, he noted that the re-NEET exam was conducted promptly to ensure no student’s academic year was wasted. On reforms, he explained that the government is transitioning to computer-based testing (CBT) and has established a high-powered committee to oversee improvements in all examination-related processes.

Immediate Actions Taken Post-Leak

Surya pointed out that the NDA government introduced a law to prevent malpractice, while the UPA failed to do so, and this law is now being further strengthened. He highlighted that following the paper leak, the government acted swiftly, organizing the NEET exam again the following month and recently addressing students' demands. While discussing the bill aimed at preventing paper leaks, Surya remarked that the youth across the nation are looking towards Parliament and all of us, eager to see the outcomes of this debate and discussion.

Youth's Concerns Over Political Blame Games

He further stated that the common youth watching the proceedings from home are not concerned with political blame games, past events, or which party governed in different states. What matters most to students preparing for the next exam is who will rectify the system for their future. During the debate, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra criticized the BJP government for its actions against students protesting the NEET-UG paper leak in the national capital. She questioned who ordered the use of pellet guns and insisted that Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah should provide answers.

Allegations Against the Government

Participating in the discussion on the 'Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026,' Priyanka Gandhi accused the government of filling the education system with RSS propagandists, rendering it "hollow." She claimed that there have been 152 incidents of paper leaks in the past decade, yet no mafia members have faced punishment.
