A New Chapter in Fatherhood

Congratulations on becoming a father!

It's an extraordinary experience for me. I've entered a phase of paternity leave, which means my travel plans will significantly decrease until July. Currently, I'm not involved in any specific projects.

Managing Paternity Leave

Are you taking full paternity leave?

I will still be overseeing some tasks, including reviewing scripts for upcoming projects set to begin in August. While I will be involved in the writing process, I won't be filming until my baby adjusts. Both my wife and I are thrilled; this is a joyful time for us, and we want to cherish it together.

Balancing Multiple Film Industries

You’ve certainly earned this break, given your extensive work across various film industries.

While I engage in multiple cinemas, my roots are in the Bengali film industry, and I still find my time allocation slightly favors Bengali cinema.

Dividing Time Between Cinemas

How do you balance your time between Bengali and Hindi films?

It largely depends on the opportunities I receive in Hindi cinema. In the Bengali industry, we typically work with smaller budgets, so we don't focus on volume. Instead, I compensate by taking on more projects. I recognize this is a simplistic view of being prolific, but I do have a tendency to be a workaholic, thriving on multitasking. Over time, I've learned to allocate my attention and effort evenly across all my endeavors.

Passion for Acting and Directing

What type of work excites you at this stage in your career?

Having acted for twenty-five years, I find immense joy in it. If I go without acting for more than a couple of months, I feel like a significant part of my life is missing.

The Joy of Directing

Do you prefer acting or directing?

Honestly, I find directing and creating to be more fulfilling. While acting is also a form of creation, it often requires submission to the director's vision. As a creator, I can fully realize the holistic concept in my mind, which is what excites me the most. This has been my focus for years, and I've gained valuable experience through acting. I feel a unique confidence and passion when I take on the role of a director.
