BCPL and IGGL Forge Partnership to Enhance Natural Gas Infrastructure in Northeast India
Strategic Collaboration for Natural Gas Development
BCPL and IGGL signs MoU
DIBRUGARH, July 10: In a pivotal initiative to boost the natural gas infrastructure in Northeast India, Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL). This agreement allows for the sharing of the Right of Use (RoU) of BCPL’s existing pipeline for the upcoming Duliajan Feeder Pipeline project.
This partnership aims to enhance the efficiency of current infrastructure, expedite project execution, and fortify the expanding natural gas network in the region. The MoU was formalized at BCPL’s Lepetkata facility, with Sitangshu Paul, chief general manager (operations & maintenance) of BCPL, and Gautam Kumar Das, chief operating officer of IGGL, signing the agreement in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.
The agreement facilitates the utilization of BCPL’s pipeline, allowing IGGL to construct the Duliajan Feeder Pipeline in a more economical and effective manner, thereby reducing the necessity for additional land acquisition. This initiative demonstrates both companies' dedication to utilizing existing resources to expand the energy network in the region.
Representatives from BCPL and IGGL characterized this collaboration as a crucial move towards sustainable infrastructure development and improved energy connectivity throughout Northeast India. They highlighted that such cooperative efforts are essential for establishing a resilient natural gas ecosystem that can satisfy the region's increasing energy needs.
This partnership reflects the mutual commitment of BCPL and IGGL to advance India’s vision of a cohesive, resilient, and sustainable energy future, while also contributing to the economic and industrial growth of Northeast India through enhanced gas infrastructure, as stated in a release.
