Rajeev Shukla, the Vice-President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), praised the Indian cricket team, led by Suryakumar Yadav, for successfully defending their ICC Men's T20 World Cup title. They achieved this remarkable feat by defeating New Zealand by 96 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium.


In a statement following the victory, Shukla emphasized that this back-to-back World Cup win showcases the strength and prowess of the current Indian squad on the international stage. He remarked, "This marks our consecutive World Cup victory. Team India has established itself as a formidable force in international cricket. We are currently ranked number one, and our players are capable of competing against and defeating any team worldwide."


Former Indian cricketer Kedar Jadhav also extended his congratulations to the team for their T20 World Cup triumph.


Match Overview: India Secures Title with Dominance

In the match, New Zealand won the toss and opted to field first. India set a formidable target of 255 runs, thanks to impressive performances from several players: Samson scored 89 runs off 46 balls, including five fours and eight sixes; Abhishek Sharma contributed 52 runs off 21 balls with six fours and three sixes; Ishan Kishan added 54 runs off 25 balls, hitting four boundaries and four sixes; and Shivam Dube finished with an unbeaten 26 runs off just 8 balls, featuring three fours and two sixes.


Despite a valiant effort from Tim Seifert, who scored 52 runs off 26 balls with two fours and five sixes, the Kiwis succumbed to the exceptional bowling of Axar Patel (3 wickets for 27 runs) and Jasprit Bumrah (4 wickets for 15 runs). This victory marked India's third T20 World Cup title, making them the first team to defend the title successfully and the first host nation to win the trophy.
