BCCI Updates Travel Allowances for Staff Amid Policy Changes

Revised Travel Allowance Policy
Following a simplification of the domestic travel policy, top officials have announced updates regarding the tourist allowances, which have been on hold since January. Under the current travel guidelines, employees are entitled to ₹15,000 per day for short trips lasting up to four days, while long-term travel associated with events like the Indian Premier League (IPL), Women’s Premier League (WPL), and International Cricket Council (ICC) tournaments will provide ₹10,000 daily. Additionally, a one-time conveyance allowance of ₹7,500 is available.
Changes in Allowance Structure
The newly updated policy eliminates the casual allowance, allowing workers to receive ₹10,000 daily during their travels. The ICC tournament spans a month, while the IPL lasts just over two months. According to BCCI sources, the daily allowance, excluding tax deductions, is set at ₹6,500.
Traveling Less Means Lower Allowances
For employees participating in the IPL for its full 70 days, the daily allowance will be ₹10,000, with a maximum claim of ₹7 lakh. However, if an employee travels less during the IPL, their claim will be capped at 60% of the total allowance for the 70 days, and no claims will be permitted if they do not travel at all.
Allowances for BCCI Officials
BCCI employees typically earn around $300 per day for international travel. Key officials, including the president, secretary, treasurer, vice-president, and joint secretary, are entitled to a daily allowance of $1,000 during foreign tours. For domestic meetings, they receive ₹40,000 for a one-day meeting and ₹30,000 for multi-day trips.
