BCCI Implements New Travel Policy and Daily Allowance Cuts

BCCI's Significant Decisions
On June 14, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) convened an important meeting where several key decisions were made. The board had not disbursed daily allowances to its employees since January. Now, BCCI officials have clarified the policy regarding domestic tournament allowances, which includes a reduction in the daily allowance for staff. Employees will now receive only ₹10,000 to ₹15,000 as daily allowances.
The BCCI has also made changes to its travel policy.
Changes in Daily Allowances
As of now, BCCI has not provided allowances to its staff since January. According to the current travel policy, employees receive ₹15,000 per day for travel lasting up to four days. However, this amount decreases to ₹10,000 for longer schedules, typically during the IPL and Women's Premier League. A one-time allowance previously set at ₹7,500 has now been eliminated.
Under the new policy, employees will only receive ₹10,000 per day. A source from BCCI mentioned that after tax deductions, this allowance will amount to ₹6,500.
Pending Allowances for IPL and WPL Staff
Staff from BCCI's finance and media departments have not yet received their daily allowances for IPL and WPL. However, with the introduction of the new policy, these pending payments are expected to be processed soon. For instance, an employee traveling for the entire 70 days of IPL will earn ₹10,000 daily, totaling ₹7 lakh. Conversely, those traveling only a few days will receive 60% of the allowance, while employees not traveling at all will get 40%. This calculation is based on the 70-day duration.
Decisions Regarding International Travel
Regarding international travel, most BCCI employees receive a daily allowance of $300. In contrast, honorary officials such as the president, secretary, treasurer, vice-president, and joint secretary are entitled to $1,000 per day during foreign trips. For domestic meetings, they receive ₹40,000 for a one-day meeting and ₹30,000 per day for extended domestic work trips.
