BCCI Refutes Withdrawal Rumors

India's cricket team will not be withdrawing from the Asia Cup or the Women's Emerging Teams Asia Cup this year, despite recent media speculation. BCCI Secretary Devjeet Saikia has publicly rejected these claims, stating that they are entirely false. He emphasized that no meetings have taken place regarding participation in the Asia Cup, let alone any decisions made.


Clarification from BCCI Secretary

According to reports from a news agency, Saikia mentioned that they became aware of the rumors this morning, which suggested that the BCCI had decided against sending the Indian team to both tournaments. He clarified that these events fall under the Asian Cricket Council, and there is no truth to such reports.


Focus on IPL and Upcoming Series

Saikia further noted that discussions regarding participation in the Asia Cup have not occurred, nor has any decision been made concerning ACC events. He stated that the BCCI's current focus is on the IPL tournament and the upcoming series against England.


Details on the Asia Cup

This year's Asia Cup will be the 17th edition, with the host country yet to be announced. A total of eight teams will compete, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Oman, Hong Kong, and the UAE. Additionally, Sri Lanka is set to host the Women's Emerging Teams Asia Cup in 2025. The inaugural tournament took place in 2023, where India triumphed over Bangladesh by 31 runs in the final.
