BCCI Addresses Unauthorized Access in IPL 2026

The Anti-Corruption Unit has raised concerns regarding the presence of unauthorized individuals in team dugouts during IPL 2026, along with other irregularities that the public is unaware of. In response, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has scheduled a meeting at the end of this week with the CEOs of all franchises to remind them of the established regulations. The board will also determine appropriate actions against teams and individuals who have failed to comply with these rules.

Meeting Called to Reinforce Compliance

According to reports, unauthorized individuals have been spotted around team buses, hotels, and even in the dugout area. Secretary Devjeet Saikia informed that the rules and advisories regarding player and team conduct have been in place since 2008, yet compliance has been lacking. He noted that there has been a growing carelessness among individuals, which will not be tolerated.

Saikia emphasized that any violation of the rules will be met with strict consequences, stating that no leniency will be shown. He mentioned that the monitoring body, led by retired IPS officer Sharad Kumar, provided information that exceeded the two officially acknowledged incidents by the BCCI. Both incidents involved the Rajasthan Royals, where their manager was reprimanded for using a phone in the dugout, which is against the rules. Subsequently, a video of team captain Riyan Parag vaping in the dressing room went viral, leading to fines imposed by the BCCI.

Saikia confirmed that these incidents are already public knowledge and that actions have been taken. The investigation into the vaping incident is ongoing, and further actions are anticipated. He stressed that such behavior will not be tolerated in any IPL or BCCI match.
