Barcelona's Tribute to Lionel Messi

Elena Fort, the vice-president of Barcelona, has announced that a tribute honoring the legendary footballer Lionel Messi will take place once the renovations of the iconic Camp Nou stadium are completed.

Messi, who played for Barcelona's senior team from 2004 to 2021 after progressing through their youth ranks, scored an impressive 672 goals in 779 matches, as stated on the club's official website.

He left the club in 2021 when his contract expired and could not be renewed due to financial constraints. Following his departure, Messi joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and is currently playing for Inter Miami in the United States.

Messi's Unmatched Legacy at Barcelona

During his remarkable tenure at Barcelona, Messi secured 10 La Liga titles, four UEFA Champions League trophies, and seven Copa del Rey titles, among numerous other honors. In his time with Inter Miami, he has netted 31 goals in 38 appearances.

At 38 years old, a return to Camp Nou as an active player seems improbable. However, fans may still have the opportunity to see Messi don Barcelona colors in a special exhibition match once the stadium renovations are finalized.

Plans for Messi's Tribute

Fort expressed to La Vanguardia, as reported by a media outlet, “Leo Messi's tribute at Camp Nou must take place when the stadium is 100 percent finished. It will definitely happen because he is the best player in Barca's history.”

Barcelona is set to travel to Asia for their pre-season matches before returning home for the Joan Gamper Trophy on August 10, which may feature a match against Cesc Fabregas' Como, marking their first game at the renovated Camp Nou.
