BCF Celebrates Cricket Excellence

Today, the Baramulla Cricket Forum (BCF) held a special ceremony to honor significant contributors to cricket, featuring Maj Gen Manoj Joshi, VSM, GOC 19 Infantry Division, as the Chief Guest. Among the distinguished honorees was Auqib Nabi Dar, a talented cricketer from Baramulla, recognized for his impressive performances at the national level, especially during the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season.

Auqib Nabi's Remarkable Ranji Trophy Journey

Auqib Nabi Dar played a pivotal role in Jammu and Kashmir's historic victory in the Ranji Trophy last month. In the final match against Karnataka, he delivered an outstanding performance with a five-wicket haul, achieving figures of 5/54 in 23 overs, which helped J&K bowl Karnataka out for 293 and secure a commanding first-innings lead of 291 runs.

This marked Jammu and Kashmir's first appearance in a Ranji final, and they emerged victorious due to their substantial first-innings advantage, which proved too great for the eight-time champions Karnataka, captained by Devdutt Padikkal. Auqib Nabi finished as the leading wicket-taker in the Ranji Trophy Elite 2025-26 season, claiming 60 wickets across 10 matches at an impressive average of 12.57, including seven five-wicket hauls and two four-wicket hauls. His exceptional contributions were instrumental in helping the Paras Dogra-led Jammu and Kashmir team secure the Ranji Trophy for the first time in 67 years.

Acknowledging Contributions to Cricket Development

During the BCF ceremony, Hilal Ahmed Zargar and Muzaffar Mattoo were also recognized for their efforts in advancing cricket in the region. Additionally, certificates were awarded to the Women's Cricket Team, highlighting their growing involvement in the sport.

The Chief Guest commended BCF for its dedication to fostering youth engagement and promoting sportsmanship. The event concluded with the unveiling of the BCF Cup Trophy, followed by a vote of thanks and a group photograph.
