Arrest of Bangladeshi Citizen in Katra

A citizen from Bangladesh was apprehended in the Katra area of Reasi district, Jammu and Kashmir, for allegedly entering Indian territory without valid travel documents. This information was disclosed by the police on Saturday.

According to a police spokesperson, a team conducting routine checks near the Asia Chowk base camp for Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims discovered Fahim Ahmed engaging in suspicious activities.

Upon noticing the police, Ahmed attempted to evade capture but was ultimately detained. The authorities reported that he possessed a Bangladeshi identification card; however, he failed to provide any valid travel documents, visa, or passport to justify his presence in India.

Initial investigations revealed that Ahmed had entered India through unauthorized means, violating immigration laws. The spokesperson mentioned that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Foreigners Act at the Katra police station, and inquiries are underway to uncover the motives behind his illegal entry and any potential connections.

Paramveer Singh, the Senior Superintendent of Police in Reasi, commended the team for their swift action and emphasized the police's commitment to ensuring citizen safety. He urged the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police unit.
