Bangladesh Unveils Squad for Upcoming ODI Series Against Pakistan
Bangladesh Announces ODI Squad
Bangladesh has revealed its team for the forthcoming ODI series against Pakistan, set to take place in Dhaka. According to the ICC, the series will kick off on March 11, with additional matches scheduled for March 13 and March 15.
Notable Changes in the Squad
In their last ODI series, Bangladesh faced the West Indies in Mirpur, winning the series 2-1. A significant addition to the squad is Afif Hossain, who returns for the first time since December 2024. Mahidul Islam has kept his position from the previous ODI series against the West Indies in October 2025, while Litton Das remains in the lineup despite a recent slump in performance. However, Nurul Hasan, Jaker Ali Anik, and Shamim Hossain have been dropped. Injuries have sidelined Hasan Mahmud (tennis elbow) and Tanzim Hasan Sakib (back injury), but both are expected to recover by the end of the month.
Insights from the Selection Chairman
Gazi Ashraf Hossain, the chairman of the Bangladesh selection panel, addressed some of the selection decisions, particularly regarding Litton Das. He stated, "While there may be concerns about Litton's recent form, he is actively working with the coaching staff to improve. We believe he can soon return to his best and strengthen our middle order. Afif brings essential experience and is currently in good form. Mahidul Islam's retention presents a valuable opportunity for him to showcase his potential."
