Bangladesh's Triumph at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier


Dubai, Feb 3: Following their impressive performance at the recent ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier, players from Bangladesh have made significant strides in the latest ICC Women's T20I Player Rankings.


Bangladesh showcased their dominance by winning all seven matches during the Qualifier tournament held in Nepal, securing their spot in this year's ICC Women's T20 World Cup.


The team benefited from outstanding contributions from various players, including hard-hitting Sobhana Mostary, captain Nigar Sultana Joty, and opener Dilara Akter, who all ranked among the top run-scorers, according to ICC reports.


After scoring 154 runs in the Qualifier, Sultana Joty climbed three positions to 19th in the T20I batting rankings. Mostary jumped 16 places to 36th, while Akter moved up five spots to 65th.


In the bowling rankings, left-arm spinner Nahida Akter advanced eight positions to 28th after taking eight wickets during the Qualifier.


Irish players Arlene Kelly and Orla Prendergast also made notable gains, with Kelly rising seven spots to 36th and Prendergast climbing ten places to 45th, thanks to their impressive performances.


Scotland's young all-rounder Katherine Fraser had a remarkable tournament, scoring 184 runs and taking eight wickets, which helped her rise seven spots to 37th among T20I bowlers and three spots to tie for 22nd among T20I all-rounders.


Bangladesh, Ireland, Scotland, and the Netherlands have all qualified for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026, set to take place in England from June to July, following their strong performances in the qualifying tournament.
