Arrests Made at Agartala Railway Station

Guwahati, June 9: Authorities have apprehended a Bangladeshi citizen along with two Indian accomplices at Agartala Railway Station, as reported by police on Monday.

Following specific intelligence, a coordinated search operation was executed on an express train at Agartala station on Sunday night, leading to the arrest of the three individuals.

The Bangladeshi national has been identified as Jhil Mill, aged 63, from the Khulna district.

Additionally, two individuals from West Tripura district, Sagar Mandal and Subrata Das, were taken into custody for allegedly aiding Jhil Mill in unlawfully crossing the international border, according to Tapas Das, officer-in-charge of the Agartala Government Railway Police (GRP).

"Jhil Mill was detained for entering India without proper documentation. The trio intended to travel to New Delhi for medical treatment. GRP officials are currently questioning the suspects, and it is believed that a larger network may be involved in facilitating the entry of Bangladeshi nationals into India," Das stated.

On June 3, 13 Bangladeshi nationals were previously arrested from a rented accommodation in the Hapania area of West Tripura.

In a related series of operations in April, security forces in Tripura captured six Bangladeshi nationals and three Indian touts from various locations, including Agartala Railway Station, Sonamura, and Teliamura, while also confiscating illegal items.

On April 29, the Border Security Force (BSF) detained three Bangladeshi nationals and two Indian touts at Teliamura Railway Station as they attempted to board the Agartala–Silchar train. The Bangladeshi nationals were from Sylhet, while the Indian touts were from Tripura and Assam (Silchar).
