BCB Reaffirms Leadership and Coaching Roles

During its fourth Board of Directors meeting in Dhaka on Saturday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed its leadership framework and enhanced its coaching staff. A significant decision made during this meeting is that Mehidy Hasan Miraz will continue as the captain of Bangladesh's ODI team until the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027. Additionally, Litton Das will maintain his role as the T20I captain leading up to the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2028.

New Vice-Captains and Coaching Appointments

The board has appointed Najmul Hossain Shanto as the vice-captain for the ODI squad and Saif Hassan for the T20I team. Furthermore, former spinner Mohammad Rafique has been designated as a specialist spin-bowling coach and consultant for a one-year period. Rafique, a trailblazer in Bangladesh cricket and the first bowler to achieve 100 wickets in both Tests and ODIs, will collaborate with players at all levels to enhance the spin bowling department.

Recent Achievements and Future Challenges

Mehidy's leadership in the ODI format has already yielded positive results, with Bangladesh achieving significant series victories against the West Indies in 2025 and Pakistan earlier this year. Meanwhile, Litton continues to guide the T20I team, despite Bangladesh's decision to withdraw from the 2026 T20 World Cup due to security issues related to matches in India.

Administrative Innovations and Technological Advancements

In addition to on-field developments, the BCB has rolled out various administrative and technological initiatives aimed at modernizing cricket in the nation. A new Human Resources policy has been approved to enhance organizational efficiency and transparency. The launch of two digital platforms, the Player Data App and the Cloud Server App, will provide comprehensive statistics, video analysis, and performance insights for domestic cricketers, aiding coaches, selectors, and analysts in their decision-making processes.

Honoring Excellence and Supporting Sports Journalism

The Board has also decided to revive the BCB Annual Awards Programme to honor exceptional performances and contributions within Bangladesh cricket, including achievements in cricket journalism. To foster the growth and professionalism of sports media, the BCB will introduce a scholarship program for sports journalists.
