The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is hopeful that India will visit Bangladesh for a six-match white-ball series in the 2026-27 season, as reported by Cricinfo. This series is set to include three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). Initially planned for August 2025, the tour was postponed to September 2026, but further delays occurred due to tensions between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and BCB earlier this year.

Ongoing Discussions for Rescheduling

On Monday, BCB president Tamim Iqbal shared that discussions are ongoing between the two boards to reschedule the tour. He stated, "Both cricket boards are in talks, and I am optimistic about a positive outcome," as quoted by Cricinfo.

Potential January Window for the Series

Cricinfo reports that the BCB has received encouraging feedback from the BCCI, with the series likely to occur early next year. A BCCI source indicated that the BCB is looking for a time slot in January, as the previously suggested September dates remain uncertain. "The India-Bangladesh series is expected to take place in January, with discussions with the government still in progress," the source mentioned.

Background on Postponements and Relations

Originally, India was set to tour Bangladesh in August 2025, but the series was later postponed to September 2026. The BCB had announced in January that India would play three ODIs and three T20Is in Dhaka and Chattogram. However, the BCCI has not yet confirmed the tour officially.

Tensions between the two boards escalated after the Kolkata Knight Riders released Bangladeshi all-rounder Mustafizur Rahman from their IPL squad. The situation worsened when the BCB, led by Aminul Islam, opted not to send a team to the T20 World Cup co-hosted by India.

Despite these challenges, relations have improved since Tamim Iqbal took over as BCB president. Earlier this month, he visited India and toured the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, indicating a potential warming of ties between the two cricket boards.
