Bangladesh Government Dissolves BCB Management

The management committee of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has been dissolved by the Bangladesh government due to alleged regulatory breaches. A new ad hoc committee has been established to oversee the BCB elections and management, which is expected to occur within the next three months.

Inquiry Committee Findings

The BCB elections were marred by numerous allegations of rule violations. In response, the government initiated an inquiry committee that investigated these claims. Aminul Ehsan, Director (Sports) of the Bangladesh National Sports Council, stated that the committee's report confirmed the violations, leading to the dissolution of the BCB board. He also mentioned that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has been informed of this decision.

Tamim Iqbal Appointed as Head of New Committee

Tamim Iqbal, a prominent figure in cricket, has been appointed to lead the newly formed ad hoc committee. Under his guidance, the committee will organize the elections and establish a new BCB board within the stipulated three-month period.

Reasons Behind the Board's Dissolution

The previous BCB board, led by Aminul Islam Bulbul, faced significant criticism for various issues, including the team's boycott from the T20 World Cup. Following the government's formation of the inquiry committee, several directors began resigning, with approximately seven stepping down before the board's dissolution. This ongoing instability prompted the government to take action and dissolve the BCB board.
