On Thursday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) formally issued a show cause notice to its director, M Nazmul Islam, following his controversial comments directed at the nation's cricketers.

Cricketers Call for Resignation

This action comes in response to increasing discontent among players, as the Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) has demanded the resignation of M Nazmul Islam. His remarks have particularly targeted senior players, including former captain Tamim Iqbal.

"The board has initiated disciplinary proceedings against the concerned member. A show-cause letter has been sent, and the individual is required to provide a written response within 48 hours. The situation will be addressed through the proper channels, and suitable actions will follow based on the findings of the proceedings," stated the BCB, as reported by a sports news outlet.

Controversy Over 'Indian Agent' Remarks

Previously, M Nazmul Islam referred to former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal as an 'Indian agent' after Iqbal suggested that dialogue was necessary to ease the current tensions in cricket relations between Bangladesh and India. This tension arose following the release of pacer Mustafizur Rahman from the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad for the Indian Premier League (IPL).

With uncertainty surrounding Bangladesh's participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup in India, Tamim Iqbal emphasized the need for the BCB to address these issues through dialogue, prioritizing the future and interests of Bangladesh cricket. He made these comments during the trophy unveiling ceremony for the Zia Inter-University Cricket Tournament on January 9.
