Bangladesh Cricket Board Discusses Pathway Structure for Future Development
BCB's Strategic Meeting on Cricket Development
On Monday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) convened at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium to engage in an extensive dialogue regarding the cricket pathway framework in the country. The primary aim was to enhance grassroots initiatives, age-group cricket, and the long-term development of coaching and player progression.
Emphasis on Grassroots and Age-Group Cricket
During the meeting, participants evaluated the current grassroots and age-group cricket structures, analyzing their effectiveness and pinpointing areas needing enhancement. A significant focus was placed on revising the age-group selection process and thoroughly reviewing existing age-verification methods to ensure both transparency and credibility.
Development Proposals and Player Tracking
A key proposal discussed was the introduction of an incentive system aimed at coaches who successfully nurture talent within their teams. Additionally, the necessity of creating a detailed player database encompassing all participants in domestic competitions was highlighted to facilitate long-term strategic planning and performance monitoring.
Improving Coach Career Pathways
The meeting also addressed the salary frameworks for divisional and district coaches, emphasizing the need for a well-defined career progression pathway for coaches to foster their professional development. It was agreed that a Curriculum Review Committee would be established to evaluate and update the current training and educational curriculum for coaches.
National Cricket Academy Initiative
Furthermore, the introduction of a National Cricket Academy program for Under-23 players was discussed as part of the overarching pathway strategy.
