Bangladesh Fast Bowlers Rise in ODI Rankings
In a recent update to the ICC Men's ODI Player Rankings, three fast bowlers from Bangladesh have made significant strides following their crucial contributions in the team's hard-fought 2-1 series win against New Zealand at home. Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, and Nahid Rana collectively took 18 wickets during the series, leading to notable advancements in their rankings. Shoriful climbed 11 positions to reach 28th place, while Rahman ascended 14 spots to 41st. Notably, Player of the Series Rana surged 16 places to 48th, enhancing Bangladesh's fast bowling prospects ahead of the upcoming ICC Men's Cricket World Cup.
The ODI batting rankings also saw movement, with Najmul Hossain Shanto rising 11 places to 32nd and Litton Das jumping 15 spots to 65th, thanks to their impactful performances throughout the series against New Zealand.
Additionally, Mehidy Hasan Miraz made progress in the ODI all-rounder rankings, moving up one position to tie for third place after his unbeaten 22 runs and two wickets in the series finale held in Chattogram.
T20I Rankings Update Highlights Bangladesh and Nepal Players
Following the first match of their T20I series against New Zealand, Bangladesh players have also seen positive changes in the T20I rankings. Right-handed batsman Towhid Hridoy, who delivered a stellar performance with a half-century, jumped nine places to 39th in the T20I batter rankings. His teammate Parvez Hossain Emon also made progress, moving up three spots to equal 40th.
In the T20I bowler rankings, Mahedi Hasan gained three positions to tie for 18th. Meanwhile, players from Nepal also experienced upward movement after their home series against the UAE. Dipendra Airee climbed one place to 60th, and Kushal Bhurtel made a remarkable leap of 18 spots to equal 66th in the T20I batter rankings. Both players also improved their standings in the T20I all-rounder rankings, with Airee reaching fourth and Bhurtel moving to 23rd.
