Bangladesh Announces T20I and Test Squads for Upcoming Series Against Australia and Zimbabwe
Bangladesh T20I Squad Updates
Bangladesh has reinstated pacers Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana to their T20I lineup for the forthcoming three-match series against Australia, commencing next week. Both players were rested during the previous T20I series against New Zealand in April. To make room for these returning bowlers, seamer Ripon Mondol and seam-bowling allrounder Mohammad Saifuddin have been dropped, as reported by ESPNcricinfo.
Player Background
Nahid Rana has participated in only one T20I match, which was against the UAE in May of the previous year. Taskin Ahmed last played in a T20I against Zimbabwe in October 2025. The pace attack will also feature Abdul Gaffar Saqlain, who was part of the squad during the New Zealand series but did not take the field.
Test Squad Changes
In updates regarding the Test squad, selectors have implemented four changes, including the inclusion of batsman Towhid Hridoy for the upcoming one-off match against Zimbabwe in Harare later this month. Hridoy has played 52 ODIs and 59 T20Is since his debut in 2023, although he has limited experience in first-class cricket, having scored three centuries in 16 matches.
Chief Selector's Comments
Chief selector Habibul Bashar stated that Hridoy was chosen to inject more aggression into the batting order. As part of a rotation strategy, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Shoriful Islam, Taskin, and Rana have been rested from the Test squad. Medium-pacer Robiul Haque, who has accumulated 107 wickets and 620 runs in 32 first-class matches, has been added to develop him as a fast-bowling allrounder. Khaled Ahmed has also made a return to the squad.
Upcoming Series Schedule
Bangladesh is set to face Australia in three T20Is on June 17, 19, and 21 in Chattogram. The Test squad will depart for Harare on June 23, with the Test match scheduled to commence on June 28.
