Bangladesh Women's Team Set for T20 World Cup 2026

The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is set to kick off next month, and teams are announcing their squads. Bangladesh has revealed its 15-member team, with experienced wicketkeeper-batter Nigar Sultana Joty taking the captaincy once again. The squad features a mix of seasoned players and emerging talents. Alongside captain Joty, Nahida Akter will serve as the vice-captain, sharing significant responsibilities as the team aims for success in the tournament.


Secured World Cup Spot with Top Performance

The Bangladesh women's team will participate in the T20 World Cup for the seventh consecutive time, having made their debut in 2014. In the previous edition in 2024, they started strong by defeating Scotland by 16 runs. This year, during the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 Global Qualifiers, Bangladesh showcased exceptional performance, remaining unbeaten in both the group stage and the Super Six phase, ultimately securing their spot in the World Cup.


First Match Scheduled for June 14

Before the World Cup, Bangladesh will engage in a tri-series against Scotland and the Netherlands. The team is set to depart for Edinburgh on May 25, followed by practice matches in Loughborough. Bangladesh will commence their World Cup journey on June 14 against the Netherlands at Edgbaston in Birmingham, after which they will face formidable teams like Australia, Pakistan, India, and South Africa.
