Bangladesh's Strategy for Day 4

Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the allrounder from Bangladesh, expressed confidence that his team could keep Australia's target within reach if they capitalize on the opening session of Day 4 in the first Test in Darwin. As reported by Cricinfo, Bangladesh has established a strong position after scoring 426 in response to Australia's first innings total of 198, leading by 228 runs.

On Day 3, Bangladesh managed to reduce Australia to 161/4 in their second innings, leaving them trailing by 67 runs at the end of the day.

Importance of the Opening Session

Miraz, who contributed a vital 65 runs in the second innings and took the key wicket of Steve Smith, emphasized the significance of the first session on the fourth day. He stated that Bangladesh must focus on bowling accurately and limiting Australia's scoring opportunities.

He noted, "We need to bowl in the right areas and work hard for every wicket. If we can take three or four more wickets while conceding minimal runs, we will have a manageable target ahead of us."

As Day 4 approaches, Cameron Green (43*) and Alex Carey (19*) will continue Australia's innings at 161/4, with other notable players like Beau Webster, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Starc yet to bat.

Miraz reiterated that Bangladesh's main goal is to restrict Australia's scoring and secure at least three additional wickets. He highlighted the necessity of dominating the first session on Day 4, stating, "We aim to give them as few runs as possible. With many strong batters still to come, taking at least three more wickets is our top priority. While I can't predict the outcome, we must take control of the first session tomorrow."
