Balochistan Liberation Front Claims Responsibility for Multiple Attacks
Overview of Recent Attacks in Balochistan
On Sunday, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) announced it was behind ten attacks across Balochistan. According to a report, the group claimed that these assaults, which occurred in Kharan, Washuk, Awaran, Kech, and Mastung, resulted in the deaths of ten Pakistani security personnel and four individuals labeled as state agents. Major Gwahar Baloch, a spokesperson for the BLF, stated that their fighters targeted Frontier Corps checkpoints, military camps, a convoy, and personnel guarding a road construction company, as well as those they identified as death squad agents.
The BLF reported that on May 3, its fighters launched an attack on an FC post located on Ghazi Road in Kharan using rockets and grenade launchers. They claimed that missiles struck inside the post, leading to casualties and damage. The statement further accused the Pakistani army of retaliating by indiscriminately firing at nearby civilians and attempting to pursue the attackers using drones. The BLF asserted that its fighters managed to retreat to safe locations.
Additionally, the group mentioned that on May 2, they conducted an operation in the Naggarri area based on intelligence, resulting in the deaths of two individuals they referred to as 'armed death squad agents.' According to the BLF, their fighters seized two Kalashnikov rifles and a motorcycle from the deceased. This operation was reportedly the second of its kind in the area within a short period, referencing an attack on March 17, where they claimed three alleged operatives were killed and one person was detained.
Details of Attacks on Military Installations
The BLF reported that on April 29, their fighters targeted a major Pakistani military camp in Tirtiiz. As per the report, the attack commenced with a sniper shot that killed a soldier on duty, followed by gunfire from light machine guns and other heavy weapons, resulting in additional casualties and damage within the camp.
The group also took responsibility for an attack on a Pakistani military convoy and personnel guarding a road construction company in Tirtiiz Kotori. They stated that the assault began with a sniper attack that killed one soldier, followed by heavy weapon fire aimed at the remaining personnel. The report indicated that another soldier was killed, and several others were injured.
