Bajali Zila Surkasha Samiti Appeals for Boundary Resolution

Memorandum Submitted to Chief Minister

Patacharkuchi, July 20: A delegation of 40 members from the Bajali Zila Surkasha Samiti recently presented a memorandum to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa, urging for resolutions regarding the district's boundary issues and other significant matters.

The memorandum was forwarded to the Chief Minister via the district development officer.

Despite the government's decision to elevate Bajali subdivision to district status in response to persistent demands from local residents and various organizations, the official boundary has remained undefined for almost four years.

The new district was created by incorporating sections from the previous Patacharkuchi and Bhawanipur Legislative Assembly Councils (LACs), yet the boundary demarcation is still unresolved. Additionally, two new constituencies, Bajali and Bhawanipur-Sorbhog LACs, replaced the former Patacharkuchi and Bhawanipur LACs, but district-level government offices have not yet been established.

The memorandum, endorsed by Giridhar Choudhury, president of Bajali Zila Suraksha Samiti, along with secretary Bijan Bayon and Samudra Patgiri, called for the immediate demarcation of Bajali district's boundaries.

Further requests outlined in the memorandum included the relocation of the Bajali district headquarters, the revival of Bajali College, which has been upgraded to Bhattadev University, the transfer of divisional and sub-divisional offices of the Irrigation department to Pathsala, and the construction of a flyover connecting Pathsala and Sarthebari.
