New Delhi, Dec 16: The upcoming Ayush Expo will play a pivotal role during the second WHO Global Traditional Medicine Summit (GTMC), scheduled for this week. This event aims to showcase India's rich heritage of medicinal practices alongside global traditions, as announced by the Ministry of Ayush on Tuesday.

The GTMC, organized by the Ministry of Ayush in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), will take place from December 17 to 19 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

At the Ayush Expo, attendees can expect a well-curated display of various traditional healing systems, including Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa, and Homeopathy. The exhibition will utilize immersive displays, scientific insights, and digital tools to engage visitors.

The goal of the exhibition is to translate India's traditional knowledge into narratives that resonate globally, aligning with current public health needs.

Prof. (Dr.) Tanuja Manoj Nesari, Director of the Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA), stated, “The Ayush Expo at the Second WHO Global Traditional Medicine Summit is crafted to present India’s traditional medicine systems in a scientifically validated and globally relevant context.”

She further emphasized that the Expo aims to unite classical knowledge, evidence-based practices, and innovative technologies, fostering informed discussions, enhancing research partnerships, and promoting the responsible integration of traditional medicine into modern healthcare systems.

One of the highlights will be the Medicinal Plants and Seeds Pavilion, which will feature nearly 40 live medicinal plants and rare seeds, showcasing India's botanical legacy and the ecological roots of traditional medicine.

The Spices of India Pavilion will delve into the scientific foundations of commonly used culinary herbs and their significance in preventive health. Additionally, the Metallotherapeutics Zone will focus on traditional purification techniques, bhasma preparation methods, and safety validation practices.

Exhibits on Dinacharya, Ritucharya, and Panchakarma will also be part of the Expo, demonstrating principles of preventive care, seasonal health practices, and therapeutic methods through traditional tools and informative formats.

The Ministry also highlighted the Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (TKDL) as a globally recognized initiative aimed at safeguarding traditional knowledge and combating bio-piracy.

Moreover, the Expo will feature a dedicated WHO Zone, showcasing traditional medicine systems from various WHO Member States. Countries from around the world will present their healing practices, community health models, and Indigenous knowledge systems. These global exhibits will illustrate the diversity of traditional medicine, organized by WHO-curated zones that emphasize healthy ecosystems, social innovation, and nature-based health solutions.
