Axiom-4 Mission Launch Details

The Axiom-4 mission, featuring Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, is now slated for launch on June 19, 2025, according to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Reports indicate that Axiom Space is collaborating closely with NASA to investigate a pressure anomaly in the Zvezda Service Module aboard the International Space Station (ISS).


Union Minister Jitendra Singh shared an update on his X account, stating, “The launch date for the Axiom-4 mission, which will take Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla to the ISS, is currently rescheduled for June 19, 2025. The SpaceX team has confirmed that all previous issues causing delays have been resolved.”



Despite these updates, Axiom Space and NASA have yet to officially announce the launch date. The mission was initially set for May 29, then postponed to June 8, and subsequently rescheduled multiple times due to various issues, including delays in the Falcon-9 vehicle's readiness and adverse weather conditions.

Who Is Shubhanshu Shukla?


Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla is a distinguished Test Pilot and Astronaut with the Indian Air Force. Hailing from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, he completed his education at City Montessori School. Inspired by the Kargil War in 1999, he pursued a career in the military, successfully clearing the UPSC exams and earning a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the National Defence Academy in 2005.


After being selected for the flying branch, he trained at the Indian Air Force Academy and was commissioned as a Flying Officer in June 2006. With approximately 2,000 hours of flight experience across various aircraft, he is recognized as a combat leader and an experienced test pilot.
