Awareness Rally Marks World AIDS Day in Samastipur
Rally Organized for World AIDS Day
On December 1, in Samastipur, Bihar, the Health Department organized an awareness rally in celebration of World AIDS Day. The rally was flagged off by District Civil Surgeon S.K. Chaudhary from the Sadar Hospital. It proceeded through Golambar Chowk and the District Collectorate Overbridge before returning to the hospital.
Community Engagement in Awareness Efforts
In honor of World AIDS Day, both urban and rural areas witnessed numerous awareness rallies organized by various governmental and non-governmental organizations. Students participated actively, using posters and slogans to educate the public about AIDS and encourage the adoption of safe lifestyles.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Vishal Kumar stated, "Following the National AIDS Control guidelines, we initiated this rally from Sadar Hospital to raise awareness about AIDS and HIV among the community. It is crucial to control the stigma associated with the disease, as many patients do not reach ART centers. This rally aims to motivate them to seek treatment."
Leadership of Moni Rani
The rally was led by Moni Rani, the chairperson of the organizing institution, known for her active involvement in education and social development. She has made significant contributions to women's empowerment, health awareness, and community service in rural areas.
Addressing the Seriousness of AIDS
While flagging off the rally, Moni Rani remarked, "AIDS remains a serious issue due to a lack of awareness. It is our duty to spread accurate information rather than fear the disease. The participation of youth is essential in combating this illness."
Participation from Students and Medical Staff
Hundreds of students from the ANM School and medical personnel from Sadar Hospital took part in the rally. The event was organized with the support of the District AIDS Prevention Control Unit, ART STD ICDPT, and the Blood Bank.
Main Objective of the Awareness Rally
The primary goal of the awareness rally was to educate the public about AIDS prevention. Special emphasis was placed on encouraging individuals working in other states to get tested for HIV. The message conveyed was that AIDS is not fatal if timely information is received.
Community Involvement in the Rally
A large number of students, teachers, and local residents participated in the rally. They collectively urged the community to dispel myths surrounding HIV and AIDS and to undergo regular health check-ups. Civil Surgeon Dr. S.K. Chaudhary emphasized that self-control is the most effective way to prevent AIDS, advising fidelity to partners and humorously noting that condoms are essential for protection, especially if a partner is unfaithful.
