Nominees for ICC Player of the Month

On Thursday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed the nominees for the Player of the Month award for August. The shortlist includes Thailand's Suleeporn Laomi and Nannapat Koncharoenkai, alongside Lucy Barnett, the captain of the Isle of Man. Notably, Barnett is the first player from the Isle of Man to be nominated for this prestigious award.


Suleeporn Laomi's Achievements

Suleeporn Laomi showcased her talent throughout the month in both ODIs and T20Is. The 28-year-old leg-spinner took four wickets in ODIs, highlighted by a crucial performance of three for 27 in the final match against Papua New Guinea, leading Thailand to a 3-0 series victory. She also excelled in the Women's Asia Cup T20, starting the tournament with a remarkable three for 26 against India.


Nannapat Koncharoenkai's Performance

Nannapat Koncharoenkai, Laomi's teammate, also made the shortlist due to her consistent batting. She emerged as the top run-scorer in Thailand's T20I series against Papua New Guinea in Port Moresby and continued her form in the ODI series. During this period, she accumulated 121 runs in ODIs at a strike rate of 80.13 and 144 runs in four T20Is at a strike rate of 86.22.


Lucy Barnett's Remarkable Month

Lucy Barnett, the opener and captain of the Isle of Man, had an outstanding month with both bat and ball. She scored a total of 257 runs at an average of 128.5 and an impressive strike rate of 178.47 across four T20Is. Her highlight performance was an unbeaten 123 off just 64 balls against Norway. Barnett was the leading run-scorer in the Continental Cup, playing a key role in her team's journey to the final, and also took four wickets with her off-spin bowling.
